Greetings from the Gator Art Studio: Artwork in the Community

It has already been a busy year and my 8th grade pre AP Art I students have been working on a variety of different projects.  We have been able to bring our artwork to the community at two different City of Austin locations. For the first year ever, students from Ojeda Middle School and DVISD got to display their artwork as part of the East Austin Studio Tour at the Austin Public Library Terrazas Branch to great success! We even received a review and recommendation as one of the best kid friendly stops on the East Austin Studio Tour!

2D artwork inspired by Aboriginal art, Paul Klee, and Hundertwasser.
Afterschool Art Club students learned about Dia de Los Muertos and created their own papier mache skull designs.

Students created works using upcycled altered books and origami.
Works inspired by Artist Alberto Giacometti where students learned about the effects of WWII on his work and how Artists respond to social issues, the art element texture, and design principle movement.

Students also showed their work at the Mexican American Cultural Center and one work even one Honorable Mention.
