Success at the Junior Visual Art Scholastic Event!

Seven students from Ojeda Middle School competed this morning at the Region 13S Visual Art Scholastic Event. Hundreds of students from various districts in the central Texas region gathered together at Gorzycki Middle School in Austin Independent School District to show off their talent.

I am delighted and so proud to share that every single student from Ojeda MS made the highest score of a 4 and proceeded to the 2nd level of the competition.  Everyone won a medal, there was one perfect score, and everyone else made close to a perfect score. They each received very encouraging and supportive comments from the jurors. Although none of them advanced to the 3rd stage to win for their respective category, everyone was still excited and proud, as well they should be!
Go young Gator Artists!

After the jurying process, we decided to go outside to play and let off some steam. We discovered a human sundial along the way! If you stand on the current month in a certain spot on the mosaic, your shadow should fall on the current time of day. Hopefully we can find a way to create our own at Ojeda MS too.

We also enjoyed playing around and exploring the shaded tree area.

After an hour or more of the judges deliberating, we finally came back inside for the results. Here we are discovering that each one of their work  made the highest mark of a 4! Every one received a medal!

Thank you so much to friends and families of the students for all their support!
Congratulations to our young Ojeda Middle School Gator Artists! I am unbelievably proud of you, your talent, your passion and dedication to your work, and for your kindness and wonderful, bright spirits.
You inspire me every day to be a better teacher, a better artist, and a better human being, and for that I am so grateful.
