Junior Visual Art Scholastic Event and Jerry's Art-A-Rama Competitions

Students in the Ojeda Middle School "Gator" Art Studio have been very busy working on projects for the Junior Visual Art Scholastic Event and Jerry's Art-A-Rama Middle School 8"x10" Art Competition. I have been very busy combing through the almost 20 pages of directions, rules, and guidelines for JrVASE!

At Junior VASE, some of our most talented and dedicated 6th, 7th, and 8th graders including Art I students will be interviewed by a juror about their work. They have created a variety of projects, all student directed by me and my fellow Art Teacher.

Projects include Mexican Amate paintings, Mexican Alebrije animal sculpture, watercolor self-portraits, graphite drawings,  and much more.

Students have also been busy creating works in an established 8"x10" format for Jerry's Art-a-Rama Middle School Art Competition where students also have the opportunity to sell their work and keep the profits! Sale and opening are this Sunday, May 5th, from 3 to 5 pm at Jerry's Art-A-Rama at 6010 N IH 35  Austin, TX 78752 (512) 420-9359.

All funds go directly to the students! Prices range from $5.00 to $30.00.

Opening: 3:00 to 5:00 pm

Did I mention it's also a pizza party?

Exhibit will be on display until May 25, 2013.

Thanks for supporting youth artists!
